Railtrack (these days rebranded as "Network Rail") is responsible for track maintenance and safety on Britain's railways. When I first moved to Britain there were several large train accidents, with loss of life, which were directly attributable to Railtrack and their incompetence. Consequently I had a field day altering the news...

Left: The Reading station master reflects on the unpopular 'acquatic train' trials in October. Right: Rescue crews work to free the injured in November. Six people died after the new 'flying bus' has a tyre burst on take-off.
Once I started following rail mishaps, I couldn't stop. None of the news on this page is 'altered', but it seemed to follow on from the Railtrack debacles.

At around 6 in the morning a car towing a trailer ran off the road and over the train track, where it stalled. The driver jumped out of the car and desperately tried calling for help with his mobile. However a passenger express train hits the car and trailer dragging it along, and derailing the train. A freight train, fully laden with coal, coming in the other direction hits the oncoming mess and also derails. It then careens off the track and into a "summer house" near the track. The owner of the summer house, who had been sleeping in the main house, is woken by an "ungodly" noise.

This picture was the front page of one of the daily tabloids.
