The Myers-Briggs Test is a personality test which is used in the areas of employee training, marriage counselling, and personal development. It's like an IQ test for your personality. Instead of a numeric score, you get a four-letter rating, which relates to a personality "type".

Put simply the four letters correspond to four choices.
The choices are:
  • Extraversion/Introversion (E/I)
  • Sensing/Intuition (S/N)
  • Thinking/Feeling (T/F)
  • Judging/Perceiving (J/P)
The actual test is much more complex.
More details can be found at: www.knowyourtype.com or google "Myers Briggs".

Using a simplified version of the test, my results are as follows...

INTP (Designer Theorizer)
Theme is designing and configuring. Talents lie in grasping the underlying principles of something and defining its essential qualities. Seek to define precisely and bring coherence to systems based on the pattern of organization that is naturally there. Easily notice inconsistencies. Enjoy elegant theories and models for their own sake and for use in solving technical and human problems. Interested in theorizing, analyzing, and learning. Thrive on exploring, understanding, and explaining how the world works.
A less scientific way of defining personality is through horoscope. In the Chinese Horoscope I was born in the Year of the Monkey. This is what my local Chinese restaurant's menu had to say about me.

Persons born under this sign are usually successful in any field they choose, good at making deals, and skilful in business diplomacy. Decisions are easy; they have plenty of common-sense. Monkey people read extensively, remember everything they read, and consequently are unusually well-informed. If a monkey person is allowed to pursue his own instinctive course in life, he stands a good chance of becoming famous. However, monkeys tend to talk too much, driving friends away with their overlong explanations and endless chatter. They are sometimes contempuous of people less gifted than they. Their inclination to appease rather than fight is a predominant characteristic.

Alternatively, there's the word of a packet of sugar that I picked up in Spain.

Horóscopo chino
Mono – espontáneos, naturales, alegres e inteligentes

Chinese horoscope
Monkey – spontaneous, natural, lively and inteligent
Or maybe I should called this self definition. This is all the racial labels I can attach to myself, and why they are attached to me.

I am...

Australian:(by place of birth)
English:(by ancestral country)
British:(by cultural ancestry)
European:(by continent)
caucasian:(by anthropological term)
white:(by colour)

Two further "cultural ancestry" labels could be added to this list. Although these are not racial term as such.

Western:(by dominant culture)
Christian:(by dominant religion)

I believe these are labels that have been attached to me, whether I agreed with them or not.
I went to Brazil. I ate at a Chinese restaurant.
I got a fortune cookie. It said...

Dia de muitas novidades e planos inusitados que irão mudar a sua vida para melhor

...which means...
"Day of much news and unusual plans that
are going to change you life for the better".
