Mexico

On my birthday, Lee & I went whale watching off the coast of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
We saw lots of whales close up that day. Even our guide was surprised.
One of them hit Lee with its tail. Here's the video.

I made several Facebook albums of our travels around Mexico...

Whales

Pyramids and Mexico City

Copper Canyon Railway
Other cities and planes

I also made a large panorama of the Copper Canyon

The problem with food in Mexico

I did not have a good experience with food in Mexico. I wonder if we just had back luck. But we had two weeks of bad luck.

Every meal we had was undercooked or overcooked. Every hot meal we had was cold – and when we asked it for it to be heated up it would return to the table only a tiny bit warmer.

It didn't matter if we went to cheap places, expensive places, places recommended by guide books, places recommended by locals. Every meal that should have been hot or warm was cold.

Also everything is corn based, and I had very bad digestive problems for weeks after returning.

The only meal that we had that was good was the day we visited the pyramids at Teotihuacan. We visited a place call "Techinanco", which is a cantina run by Mexican grannies. We were there for lunch and the only customers. But the two grannies were very friendly and we could hear the food sizzling in the kitchen. When it arrived it was piping hot. It was home cooking, but delicious. The restaurant itself is not in a obvious place compared with the pyramids. You have to leave by the side gate and then walk around to the back of compound. It's quite out of the way.
